The business was started by myself, Ian Cleaver in 1969. I had spent 13 years deep sea and came ashore with a Masters Foreign Going Certificate and a driving licence. The driving licence was more useful. My first venture was a guest house in Oban. This grew and prospered and I returned to my home area at Tyndrum buying the Royal Hotel. Inside five years I had expanded to two more properties at Crianlarich and Dalmally. Since then two more have arrived in the portfolio and now I run five hotels and the eighteen vehicle coach fleet as well. All this means a huge administration burden in the modern world where my team organise and operate all aspects of the holiday experience from my headquarters at Dalmally Hotel. My plant nursery is behind the office so I can shout at my Gardeners from the window! My right hand woman is Sheena Thompson, a Director of the Company and the group General Manager. We sell directly to our old customers and through the internet only, so pricing is devastatingly keen. Hence some tours are full in 2007 before this brochure was published. You will have most likely been introduced through a friend so please be assured we will always, always do our level best for you, our customer.
